DESCRIPTION
When Plymouth created the Road Runner, they started with a simple goal: offer the cheapest car on the market that could run 100 mph in a quarter-mile. The formula was a success, with sales of over 44,000 in 1968 and 80,000 in 1969. Heading into the second year of production, a convertible model was introduced with the same engine options: the 383ci V8 or the legendary 426 HEMI. In total, just 2,128 convertibles were produced, with the majority featuring the 383 engine. Finished in its original shade of Sunfire Yellow, this 1969 Road Runner convertible underwent a complete restoration to factory specifications. It came from the factory as a highly optioned car, equipped with air conditioning, bucket seats, a center console with woodgrain insert, variable 3-speed wipers, hood-mounted turn signals and more. Under the hood is a correct 383ci V8 backed by a heavy-duty TorqueFlite automatic transmission. During the restoration, numerous drivability upgrades were installed, including changing the front brakes to power discs and converting the air conditioning system to R134A. It underwent a highly comphrensive restoration in 2011 that included a complete rebuild of the driveline, a new factory-correct black interior, and a new top with hydraulic system. The result is a highly optioned Roadrunner convertible that’s turnkey and ready for its next owner.
